Constriction leaves you reelin’ Outside, no way you’re going Reachin’ for the blinds It’s everywhere that you look in the mirror Cannot breathe, cannot see, cannot hear her Lost all will to find Sit down and hear your bones Sit down and heal your ghosts And on your way in the street, on the corner In the eyes of your lover, mother, daughter Is fear turnin’ you blind? Truth awaits like the comin’ of the sunrise And them stories you been told, bought and sold lies Time to recognize Sit down and heal your bones Sit down and heal your ghosts Sit down and heal your soul Sit down and heal your bones Heal your bones

Oh the summer time has come And the trees are sweetly blooming Where the wild mountain thyme Grows around the blooming heather Will ya go, Lassie, go? And we’ll all go together Where the wild mountain thyme Grows around the blooming heather Will ya go, Lassie, go? I will build my love a bower On a pure crystal fountain And on it I will place All the colors of the mountain Will ya go, Lassie, go? And we’ll all go together Where the wild mountain thyme Grows around the blooming heather Will ya go, Lassie, go? If my true love were gone Then I would surely find another And to her i will sing Things that make her know I want her So will ya go, Lassie, go? And we’ll all go together Where the wild mountain thyme Grows around the blooming heather Will ya go, Lassie, go?

Holdin' On 05:16
There’s the old man round the corner Standin’ lonely, waitin to fall His tired shadow, his only companion Low and hungry for somethin’ lost He sings his song the way he remembers The way he remembers how it used to feel When she was with him in all her glory Love and light and something more See that nothin’ is gone He’s gonna be there, oh lord See that nothin’ is gone He’s gonna be there, holdin’ on The rain is fallin’, the street is empty No more ghosts with songs to sing Now I’m the one who’s left to remember Now I’m the one who’s holdin’ on See that nothin’ is gone He’s gonna be there, oh lord See that nothin’ is gone He’s gonna be there, holdin’ on See that nothin’ is gone I’m gonna be there, oh lord See that nothin’ is gone I’m gonna be there, holdin’ on I’m gonna be there, oh lord

Breathe me life Line me up Take me home Sailin’ on the eastern wind Where the sun has long since been The open road underneath my feet Has worn the soul beneath Oh, don’t stop now It’s just around the bend Just keep a little faith The tired road will always bring you home Tire track groove, sunken in pavement Dotted yellow strobe, solid white line Tumbleweed, tumbleweed in focus Another ghostly fume, tell me I’m fine Oh, don’t stop now It’s just around the bend Just keep a little faith The tired road will always bring you home Breathe me life Line me up Take me home

about

"Heal Your Bones" is a collection of songs centered around the hero's journey, a universal archetype written about by the likes of Joseph Campbell and Carl Jung. The songs emerge from a psycho-spiritual perspective of being human: the quest for healing; the value of knowing your roots; memory, aging, death and dying; and the journey home.

For this EP, Ryan Herrick reached for collaboration and musical kinship-- so he sought out John Abbey, local songwriter Marcus Newman, and Massachusetts-based singer-guitarist Joel Mongeon to help him compose, arrange, and produce a handful of new songs.

"I think it's rare when you find friends with just the right kind of chemistry where a sort of synchronicity happens through the creative process. Guess they're more like soulmates." Ryan reflects.

Wild Mountain Thyme and Holdin' On were recorded in true Abbey/Herrick fashion-- live off the floor keeping to the tried-and-true spirit of folk-americana-roots music.

"Heal Your Bones and Tumbleweed were studio creations, but with regards to our creative approach, we were reaching for a blend of honesty with sky's-the-limit ideas. Through that process, we were able to dig a little deeper into the musical soil between us."
